Coliseum Building Update

The redevelopment will provide 85,000 sq. ft of commercial/retail/office space and incubator space for local BIPOC professionals and BIPOC-led firms. It will serve as a retail and commercial hub for the East Lake Street community and catalyze future adjacent development.

Since the purchase of the Coliseum building in July 2021, Redesign has been working nonstop to restore the building through partnership with three BIPOC small business owners to ensure long-term affordability up to 25 BIPOC and local entrepreneurs or small businesses as future tenants.
Currently, Redesign is working on finalizing design, construction budget, and securing all financing sources. Relying on several city, county and state grants to close the gap, as well as value engineering the construction package. We are currently launching a fundraising campaign with philanthropic organizations who have stated an interest in supporting.
Redesign plans to install exterior art completed by local BIPOC visual artists and poets and potentially begin the 3-month closing process in July 2022. Redesign will begin a year-long construction process culminating in a Grand opening block party by Summer 2023!
