Pfuntionary Space Opening Up

Non-Profit Public Functionary (PF) is in the process of developing their processes for artist submissions for exhibitions, performance and events in their space. I joined them on a Sunday afternoon in November 2022 for a community conversation.

The key word that continually rose to the surface during this conversation was ‘collaboration’. PF intends to be a place for well-planned and well-executed events. There are ample resources and infrastructure to support this vision! The new PF Cafe run by Ryan Stopera and production support from Kenichi Thomas anchor the concrete elements. Proposals will be accepted soon and those considering space use at PF are called on to imagine what is beyond a one-dimensional, transactional exchange toward building something for the future.

Mike Bishop, Operations Dir. and Trisha Herring, Artistic Dir. have been at this for years. Add a full team of talented artists, doers and producers and new studio space and you have a recipe for relational creativity and generous sharing.

Public Functionary is a fluid platform that supports the exploration, production, and expression of art and culture. A space to dream and create the world we want.
