About Reach

A central information hub for updates, resources and opportunities around community recovery, renewal and wellness, REACH is program of Powderhorn Park Neighborhood Association.

REACH began in 2021 as part of the Lake Street Leadership Recovery Coalition (LSLRC), a group of community leaders who came together to collaborate on recovery and renewal efforts  after the civil uprising following the murder of George Floyd. While recovery and renewal are underway, it may be years or even decades before we see concrete outcomes of new development, rebuilt infrastructure and strengthened social supports.

In the meantime, REACH provides a point of connection for the community. We maintain a repository of resources to educate and inspire community members who want to know about ongoing projects, stay informed and understand the role they can play in the effort. Visit us often to stay up-to-date.

Rebuilding with equity for real renewal

REACH provides information on as many initiatives as possible, with prioritize given to those with a focus on building equity in the community. This time and our collective efforts represent an opportunity to unravel longstanding racial inequities, and REACH shines the spotlight on work that supports this critical endeavor.

By putting equity at the forefront, REACH helps promote genuine, meaningful renewal - renewal that opens doors for all people, and especially those who have historically been shut out.

Our core purpose and goals

REACH’s core purpose is to maintain a central repository of information on community recovery efforts and thereby serve as an immediate resource for all who are interested.

FOUR GOALS DRIVE & SHAPE OUR WORK

Spotlight people, developers, projects and municipalities doing renewal work

Focus on initiatives that weave racial equity into the community

Capture community input and share with initiative leads to create an inclusive and meaningful feedback loop

Energize and motivate community members to participate

How we publish and promote content

Our primary platform is the REACH website, which we supplement with channels such as our monthly email newsletter and partner organizations’ social media accounts. We continuously update our channels with fresh content.

Our guiding principles

SAY & REMEMBER

The murder of George Floyd was the tragic and unjust beginning of this initiative. This sober reality acts as both incentive for action and a constant reminder of the seriousness of REACH’s purpose.

CENTER EQUITY

REACH promotes genuine equity - beyond talking points and a vision. Highlighting, tracking and promoting initiatives that invest in the health and wealth of BIPOC communities, helps increase engagement and equity.

CHAMPION HEALTH

Every community deserves to be healthy and whole. By building awareness, fueling actions and attracting resources, REACH supports initiatives that develop community equity, health and wellness.
